|
From Nakhon Phanom to Bung Kan (ride) |
|
|
In the morning we shall ride to north to Chet Si waterfalls
first. This
magnificent waterfalls located in Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary ,
are a popular weekend destination of many locals especially
during the rainy season. Huai Ka-am river that flows down a high
sandstone mountain that is enclosed by dense forest, created a
number of cascades, waterfalls and sink holes where the people
cool down under the rainbow coloured spray of water. Chet
Si” means seven colours in direct translation. Animals found
here are: elephant, tiger, clouded leopard, bear, deer, wild
boar and monkeys. We shall take a walk
along the stream with seven levels of waterfalls to the top. We
shall refresh under the falling water and in the river cascades.
After lunch we shall visit Phutok forest
temple. The name means a "lonely" mountain in Isan dialect. This
sandstone monolithic range stands out and can be seen from a
distance. The temple is attached to the rock 300 m above the
valley and it is necessary to climb over 1000 steps and
dodge several bamboo and timber scaffolds to get to the top.
Great panoramic view is a reward. Because of its
tranquillity it became a popular meditation place. The
stairway to the temple is divided into 7 levels symbolising
7 levels of enlightenment. The bridges and stairways are
shaky but the view atop is striking. Accommodation with breakfast in
Bung Kan. |
